The two most common questions we get are : “What are the different type of skin?”and then “What is my skin type?”. If you are wondering the same thing then this article is for you ! Knowing your skin type is actually very important, because it helps you know how to best care for your skin and determines what type of products you should use.

What are the Different Types of Skin?

There are four basic types of skin:

  • Normal skin
  • Dry skin
  • Oily skin
  • Combination skin

Let’s have a look at each one of them.

Normal Skin

Normal skin is a term used to describe skin type that is well-balanced. The skin has a good time which makes it smooth and supple. It has fine pores, good blood circulation and it’s generally not really sensitive. There are no visible blemishes, greasy patches or flaky areas. Sebum production, moisture content, keratinization, and desquamation are extremely well-balanced. If you have a normal skin, you are of of the lucky ones 🙂

Dry Skin

Dry skin lacks sebum and the lipids that it needs to retain moisture and build a protective shield against external influences. Without enough oil to retain hydration, your skin can get flaky, tight, and uncomfortable. You might notice an increase in fine lines, irritation, and, eventually, wrinkles. If it’s your case, you should focus your routine on gentle cleansers and rich creams and lotions.

Oily Skin

Oily skin is characterized by overproduction of sebum and enlarged pores. The increase of sebum can contribute to more acne and clogged pores among other things. It means that if it’s your case, your routine should focus on regulating your sebum with light, water-based products. Avoiding unhealthy foods such as fried foods, foods high in sugar, and processed foods are ways to prevent oily skin.

Combination Skin

Just as the name implies, it is a combination of both dry and oily types. It also means that you may have fine lines and wrinkles and shininess with clogged pores at. You may also experience uneven skin tone or large pores on your nose. Exercise, stress relief, avoidance of pore-clogging products are the the way to go if you are #teamConbinaisonSkin. YOur routine might include gentle cleansers, light lotions for overall hydration and rich cream for the driest part.
